Business in ASEAN Bootcamp
Overview
With the increasing state and federal government focus on ASEAN for trade and investment, students need to prepare themselves for an increasingly borderless future that requires “Asia-capable” employees.
The program will include presentations from and discussion with Australian government agencies, professional organizations, multinational companies, and ASEAN focused NGO’s. The program will include cross-sectoral representation but can be focused on particular themes such as:
Australia’s Regional Trade and Diplomacy
Media, Technology and Creative Industries
Education and community development
Health and Environment
International relations and politics
The program will also provide seminars and discussions that provide a broader understanding of the history of ASEAN and its importance to Australia, an introduction to regional organizations that have an Australia-ASEAN focus, and sessions on employability preparation to ensure students are building “Asian capability”.

ASEAN's purpose is to promote economic and cultural exchange among its member countries and maintain peace and stability in Southeast Asia. It is also becoming increasingly important to its trading partners as consumer demand for goods and services increases.
The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is collectively the third-largest economy in the Indo-Pacific and the fifth-largest economy in the world.
ASEAN's economy is projected to grow by over 5% per year to become the fourth-largest economy in the world by 2030.
ASEAN's middle class is expected to more than double in size from 135 million (24% of ASEAN's population) to 334 million (51% of the population) by 2030
